CBT for perfectionism
When “good enough” never feels good enough, even everyday decisions can become exhausting. You may work hard and still feel behind, put off tasks that matter, or replay small mistakes long after everyone else has moved on.
Dr. Cinthia Benitez offers private-pay Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for perfectionism, anxiety, and depression. Online therapy is available in English and Spanish for adults and teens ages 16 and older in Ohio and eligible PSYPACT states.

When high standards start getting in the way
You might recognize yourself in some of these experiences:
Delaying a task because you’re afraid you won’t do it well enough.
Spending far more time checking or revising than the task needs.
Feeling that one mistake cancels out everything you did well.
Finding it difficult to rest, delegate, or feel satisfied with your work.
Measuring your worth by grades, productivity, achievement, or others’ approval.
Therapy offers space to understand what these patterns cost you and what you want life to look like instead.
How CBT for perfectionism can help
We’ll look at the rules you feel you have to follow, the situations that trigger pressure, and what you do to manage that discomfort. Together, we’ll work toward more flexible standards and responses that support your priorities.
For example, you might practice finishing an ordinary task with one planned review, starting before you feel fully ready, or approaching a mistake with curiosity rather than harsh self-judgment. We choose manageable experiments together and use what you learn to guide the next step.
What therapy involves
Early sessions focus on your concerns, history, and goals. We’ll develop a shared understanding of what keeps the pattern going and decide where to begin. Sessions combine conversation with practical skills, and you’ll have opportunities to try small changes between appointments.
We’ll regularly discuss what is helping and adjust the plan. When useful, DBT-informed care adds skills for managing emotions, tolerating distress, and navigating relationships. MAR does not offer DBT groups or comprehensive DBT.
Support that fits your stage of life
For teens ages 16 and older and young adults, our work may focus on school pressure, college transitions, fear of disappointing others, or difficulty getting started. Adults may want help with work expectations, overcommitment, self-criticism, or making room for life beyond achievement.
